Humidifiers
In the humidifiers section of the library, humidifier library members can be viewed, modified, or created for use in a TRACE™ project file.
The following zone forced air types are available:
 
 
 
Electric Steam Humidifier
This equipment represents an electrically heated, self-contained, steam humidifier. It uses electrical energy to convert ordinary tap water to steam which it then injects into the supply air stream by means of a blower fan. The actual unit might be an electrode-type humidifier or a resistance-type humidifier.
The humidifier is controlled to meet the humidity ratio set point of the supply air defined by the associated system humidity controller.
Note: Standard TRACE™ library members cannot be modified or deleted.
 
 
 
Rated Water Flow Rate
Default: Auto Size
Typical Range: 0.01 to 0.25 gpm

This numeric input is the volumetric water flow rate through the humidifier at rated conditions (water entering the dehumidifier at 5.05°C [41.1°F] in m3/s [gpm]).

This field describes the power consumption of the unit, but does not include the electrical consumption of the fan or any standby electrical loads.  When the Auto Size option is selected for this field, the rated power value is calculated based upon the value input for the Rated Water Flow Rate and the enthalpy rise of the supplied water from a reference temperature of liquid water at 20°C [68°F] to a saturated steam at 100°C [212°F].

This input represents the electrical energy draw associated with this object whenever the schedule for the system it is assigned to indicates that it is available to operate (i.e. regardless of whether or not the humidifier is operating).

This field represents the nominal full output energy consumption of the blower fan for the humidifier.
 
 
 
Gas Steam Humidifier
This equipment represents a gas fired, self-contained, steam humidifier. It uses gas fired energy to convert ordinary tap water to steam which it then blows or injects into the supply air stream. A blower fan may not be required depending on how the dry steam is delivered into the supply air stream.
The humidifier is controlled to meet the humidity ratio set point of the supply air defined by the associated system humidity controller.  If the Rated Power input field is not set to Auto Size, the Full Load Efficiency input specified will be ignored and overridden by a thermal efficiency value determined from the user specified Rated Power, Rated Water Flow Rate, and design conditions for the sizing calculation.
Note: Standard TRACE library members cannot be modified or deleted.

This input represents the electrical energy draw associated with this object whenever the schedule for the system it is assigned to indicates that it is available to operate (i.e. regardless of whether or not the humidifier is operating).  It is used to capture the electrical energy draw for the controls only.

This field represents the nominal full capacity electric power input to the blower fan for the humidifier.  If no blower fan is required to inject the dry steam into the supply air stream, then this input field should be set to zero.
