Calendar
The calendar editor allows for the creation and modification of customized holiday calendars.

Calendar Type
There are three Calendar Types:

Holidays
Holiday calendars allow you to designate special days which will have a specific schedule associated with them. For instance, many commercial buildings are closed or have special operational schedules for select holidays during a given year. Setting specific days as holidays allows you to quickly assign a specific operational schedule corresponding to those holidays.

Calendar Graphic
The Calendar Graphic displays each day of each month for the specified year. It also allows for an easy way to select the specific day when designating holidays or periods of time when designating utility rate billing cycles or utility rate seasons.

Year
The Year field allows you to change the calendar depending upon the year. This allows the model to follow the calendar of a specific year as opposed to a standard year beginning with January 1 falling on a Sunday. Changing this field to a different year with dynamically change the calendar graphic to reflect how the dates of the selected year fall on the different day types.

Holidays
The Holidays area displays the different holidays that have been created represented by the name and color used to highlight when that holiday occurs on the calendar graphic.

Holiday Detail
The Holiday Detail area allows you to specify the details of the given holiday including the name, date and duration among other options.

Name
The Name field allows you to assign a name to the holiday being created or modified.

Date
The Date field allows you to set the date upon which the given holiday will begin. You can either click on the corresponding date on the calendar graphic or use the text field to set the desired date.

Duration
The Duration field allows you to expand the given holiday to multiple days if it does not envelope just one day. This affords you the flexibility to create one holiday spanning multiple days as opposed to creating a holiday for each day of a given multi-day holiday. This multi-day holiday will then also change the calendar graphic so that all days encompassed by the duration will be highlighted with the representative color.

Date Type
The Date Type field allows you to change how the holiday is represented. It allows for representation either by a specific date or by a given day within a specific week of a specific month.

Day of Month
Day of Month stipulates a holiday to be represented by a specific day of a specific month. Should the year be changed, the holiday will follow the date to a different day type.

Month
The Month field shows the representative month within which a holiday occurs. Changing this field will change the Date field and move the highlighted days on the calendar graphic.

Week of Month
Week of Month allows you to specify within which week of a month a holiday will occur. If a month only has four weeks, the last week and fourth week will represent the same week. When this field is changed, the Date field will change as well as the calendar graphic to highlight the proper date(s). This field is only available when the Date Type field is set to Day Of Week In Month.

Day of Week in Month
Day Of Week in Month stipulates a holiday to be represented by a specific day in a specific week of a specific month. Should the year be changed, the holiday will remain on the day type of that specific week and the dates of that month and year will shift thus the holiday will fall on a different date.

Day of Week
The Day of Week field allows you to set the day of the week specified in the Week of Month field upon which the holiday will occur. This field is only available when the Date Type field is set to Day Of Week In Month.

Utility Rate Billing Cycles
Default: Sample Monthly Billing Cycles

This is the name of the calendar that defines the billing periods of the year. Billing cycle calendars are defined in the Utility Rate Billing Cycles Calendar library. The default billing cycle calendar defines each month as its own billing cycle (e.g. January is defined as the January billing cycle month, February is defined as the February billing cycle month, etc). If other billing periods are used such as two month cycles or a single bill for an entire season, a billing cycle calendar should be created to reflect that.

When applying both a billing cycle and a seasonal calendar to a utility rate, they must be consistent—meaning that the change in billing cycle calendar definitions must occur on the same calendar  day as any change in seasonal cycle calendars. A billing cycle calendar is required to accurately perform the economics calculations. For example, a billing cycle calendar cannot be applied where the May billing cycle starts on May 2nd and the summer season defined in the Seasonal Calendar starts on May 1st. Instead, the billing cycle calendar must define May as starting on May 1st to be valid.

Utility Rate Seasons
Default: None
If defining the consumption or demand rate as Flat, Stepped, or Time of Use, the seasonal calendar field allows you to define seasonal periods for the utility rate. The seasonal calendars are defined in the Utility Rate Seasons library. The seasons defined in the calendar appear in the consumption and demand rate inputs as tabs. This calendar is not required for the economics calculation, but if the rate includes seasonal rate fluctuations, they are captured within this calendar.

When applying a seasonal calendar and a billing cycle calendar, make sure that this calendar and the billing cycle calendar are consistent — meaning that the change in seasonal calendar definitions must occur on the same day as any change in billing cycle calendars.

For example, a billing cycle calendar cannot be applied where the May billing cycle starts on May 2nd and the summer season defined in the Seasonal Calendar starts on May 1st. Instead, the season calendar must define the summer as starting on May 2nd to be valid. A warning will be displayed stating that this utility rate cannot be saved due to a seasonal calendar and billing cycle calendar conflict.
